Outstanding reliability and professionalism
With over 80 years of experience in the international shipping business, Montreal-based Fednav Limited is Canada’s largest ocean-going, dry bulk shipowning and chartering group.
We offer first-rate service with efficient, high-quality vessels and are recognized industry-wide for our operational excellence.
What You Can Expect
30 Million Tonnes Of Experience
Ocean shipping is our business. Fednav International Ltd. (FIL), our maritime freight division, transports over 30 million tonnes of dry bulk, including agricultural products, sugar, fertilizers, and industrial minerals as well as steel and other general cargo on a fleet of 120 owned and chartered vessels.
The FIL fleet is comprised of Handysize, Supramax, and Ultramax bulk carriers. Renowned for Arctic trading, we boast the world’s largest fleet of ice-class bulk vessels.
Transatlantic’s #1 Choice For Breakbulk Shipments To North America’s Heartland
Since 1959, Fednav Atlantic Lakes Line (FALLine) has operated a continuous cargo liner service from North Europe to St. Lawrence and Great Lakes ports, offering up to 60 sailings annually.
Focusing on flexible scheduling to meet specific customer needs, FALLine transports a mix of steel products as well as project and breakbulk general cargoes.
Delivering Solutions In The Arctic
Having participated in every major shipping project in the Canadian Arctic since the late 1950s, Fednav’s Arctic Operations and Projects delivers innovative solutions for this challenging region.
We operate both 31,500-tonne MV Umiak I and MV Nunavik, the most powerful icebreaking bulk carriers of their kind, and the MV Arvik I, an oil bulk-ore icebreaking vessel powerful enough to navigate unescorted through ice-covered waters.
Helping You Navigate Through Ice
Fednav Ice Services supports safe navigation in ice, assists operations in the Arctic and Baltic regions, and produces sea ice assessments and marine accessibility studies for shipping operations in ice-covered waters.
Additionally, Fednav developed IceNav™, a navigation system used by vessels operating in frozen waters worldwide. This system allows mariners to access satellite imagery and up-to-date ice and weather information.
Effectively Managing All The Moving Parts
Fednav’s Fleet Management Team oversees technical management, design development, shipyard negotiations, crew supervision, ship maintenance, and fleet-operating costs of Fednav’s owned fleet.
