Position:           Manager of Operations Services
Reporting to:  Senior Manager of Operations
Location:          Fednav Corporate Head Office – Montreal Quebec

Main responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the Operations services activities and personnel, namely: laytime, port disbursement, auditing, and cargo documentation
  • Mentor, supervise, and guide the Operations services team members
  • Monitor and assess personnel performance, assess and implement development or training plans for the Operations services team members
  • Assist and support the Senior Operations Manager with the day-to-day management of the Operations Department and fleet activities:
  • Help monitor the fleet: optimization of revenue (routing, cargo lifts, speed/consumption, load/discharge operation) and cost control
  • Guide and assist fleet operators
  • Approve billings (freight, contractual claims and off-hires) and payments (hire, port disbursements, vendor invoices)
  • Assist Senior Operations Manager and Vice-President of Operations as and when required on miscellaneous projects and initiatives

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years previous experience in a similar operations role within the dry bulk shipping sector is essential
  • University or Maritime degree in a related field, Seagoing experience is considered an asset
  • Previous leadership experience in managing teams is required:

  • Natural self-starting skills, results driven and strong problem solver
  • Facility to control costs
